Although I didn't do a Film at 11 for January, you could consider these the images I would have blogged. There's no doubt I will continue to tote my film cameras around with me and post the images here, they may just not be under the auspices of Film at 11. These images were shot on New Year's Eve day. We were at the Outer Banks and I was wanting to explore Pea Island, just south of the Bonner Bridge that spans Oregon Inlet. I wrote about Pea Island last year here, but the problems plaguing the communities south of the bridge have only continued. Most recently, the NC DOT closed Bonner Bridge - without notice - for several weeks because pilings were unsecured and so dangerous. A few weeks of dredging and repairs allowed the bridge to reopen, but obviously it's living on borrowed time. It was a beautiful afternoon and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better way to end the year. In one of my favorite places on earth, exploring empty beaches and tide pools, and enjoying the people that are the most important to me.
