Featured | Lemonade and Lenses Magazine

It is such an honor and thrill to be featured in the November 2014 "Film" issue of Lemonade and Lenses magazine!  Lemonade and Lenses is a photography industry magazine, which features different topics monthly.  In addition to the print magazine, they also feature photography on their blog, as well as host events and contests for photographers all over the globe.

For the November issue, I wrote an article titled Film Changes Everything, about my own journey with film.  The issue also features my work from some of my amazing clients, including the Wade, Franklin, Simmons & Adkin families. Here's a snippet from the article. To read more from my feature, please see the bottom of this post for how to get your own copy of the magazine!

Film changed everything.  It forced me to let go and embrace imperfection.  It allowed me to make mistakes while still feeling encouraged.  It made feel legitimate and for the first time, like an artist.

I came to film because I was looking for a challenge and in need of some inspiration.  Since my education is in law and not art, I have always struggled with feeling legitimate as a photographer.  But film... you have to know what you're doing, right?  I thought that if I could take a film image and get a correct exposure - and maybe even create a beautiful image in the process - then I could finally describe myself as a photographer to others and not feel like a phony.  The good news is that I achieved that and so much more.

I want to thank Lemonade and Lenses for the opportunity to have my work and words published - something I never imagined when I began my photography career in 2009.  I also want to think my amazing clients, friends and family for their continued support over the years.  It truly means everything.
